As part of JCI Week 2024, JCI Zugbuana brought together purpose and passion with a Clean-Up Hike at Budlaan Falls Trail on April 21, 2024. The event showcased the chapter’s continued commitment to environmental sustainability by transforming a scenic hike into an impactful act of service.

Participants hiked through the breathtaking Budlaan Trail while collecting trash along the route, echoing the call to “Leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but trash.” Equipped with eco-bags, gloves, and an unwavering spirit of volunteerism, JCI Zugbuana members and volunteers helped restore cleanliness to one of Cebu’s beloved natural attractions.

Budlaan Falls, a popular destination among hikers and nature lovers, has faced the growing challenge of pollution due to increasing foot traffic. Recognizing the importance of preserving this natural treasure, the clean-up hike aimed not only to remove waste but also to raise awareness about responsible tourism and trail etiquette.

“This initiative was about more than just picking up trash—it was a reminder that each of us plays a role in protecting the spaces we enjoy,” shared one participant. “When we care for nature, we care for our future.”

The Budlaan Falls Clean-Up Hike is part of JCI Zugbuana’s broader advocacy for sustainability and environmental action. By blending adventure with advocacy, the chapter continues to lead meaningful programs that empower young leaders to serve with purpose.

JCI Zugbuana encourages the community to join future clean-up hikes and environmental efforts as we move forward—one step, one trail, one act of care at a time.
